Windows Vista Business mini-review

I've survived the re-installation! :), now my box is running a full version of Vista Business edition! I have to say, I'm quite impressed so far with the eye candy and I'm sure I'm going to love the new DX10 as it'll allow me to open multiple games and applications that'll make use of the graphics card!

I'm a little disappointed at the lack of sound drivers for my Audigy 2 sound card though and I'm not entirely sure whether I should install the Audigy 2 CD as that would be the only way for me to install the control panel, anyway, I've left that out and reverting back to the on-board Realtek AC97 instead which is working fine. Otherwise, everything I've been using on XP has pretty much been successfully installed on this machine now!

There are a few issues that I've noticed though, hopefully it's not due to the fact that my computer is getting too slow :P, that is, there are almost constant activity to my main hard disk, particularly when the Sidebar is on. I'm guessing this may only be because of unoptimized algorithms and sooner or later MS would release a patch that increases performance, but in anycase, this is quite an issue for me as the disk access noise is very loud..., mind you, my hard disk may need to be upgraded anyway as it's at least 3 years old now and it only holds 120GB in total and I've partitioned it to hold both Ubuntu and Windows.

The entire installation took 15GB to install and I'm left with 75GB on my Windows partition to install other things, in my own experience this is very little space, but I'll have to make do for now, at least until the 2Q of this year when the 1TB drives come into the consumer market.
